Christ, we hear you knocking at the door
In the voices of those seeking asylum;
They call out to us for compassion, for justice.
Will we hear You, will we respond to the least of these
Who have left their homes out of despair,
Who traveled with only hope to sustain them.
Christ, you are with these migrants in their suffering;
You call us to be with them also, to be present to their need.
Give us the courage to open doors, to offer welcome
To those who have been created in Your image,
To those who are your children, blessed with human dignity
That has so often been disrespected and denied.
Christ, we hear you knocking at the door,
We see you in the faces of the caravan,
We know your mercy extends to them
Like water in a parched border land.
May we be moved to see as you see,
To be merciful as you have been to us.
May we open our hearts, tear down the walls
And receive your beloved ones as our sisters and brothers. Amen.
