The High Level Dialogue on Financing for Development took place on December 7-8 at the UN Headquarters in New York.

 

In advance of the occasion, CIDSE submitted the following Comments and Recommendations for UN General Assembly Draft Resolutionon the Follow-up to the International Conference on Financing for Development

CIDSE inputs into “Gates Report” on innovative finance (June 2011)

Center of Concern joins CIDSE, a transatlantic alliance of 16 Catholic Development Agencies, submitting a contribution to Bill Gates’ working paper on financing for development. The report was requested by the French Presidency of the Group of 20 and is intended to inform the deliberations on the topic  in the lead up to the Cannes Summit, coming November.In its contribution, CIDSE highlights innovative mechanisms to finance development goals such as a Financial Transactions Tax (FTT) and Special Drawing Rights (SDRs) to complement pledged ODA funds.

RBW speaks at Hearings on Least Developed Countries conference (April 2011)

Speaking at Panel II of the Interactive Civil Society Hearing of the General Assembly in Preparation for the Fourth United Nations Conference on the Least Developed Countries (UN LDC IV), April 1, 2011, RBW Project Director addressed the theme “Enhancing LDCs productive capacity and resilience for the impact of Global Crises.” In his statement he touched upon the following issues: Small enterprises, innovative financing, trade as an instrument of financial resilience, and LDCs voice at the Group of 20.
