CoC Co-organizes June Events on Tax Policy and Human Rights

Center of Concern is proud to announce three events that RightingFinance, the initiative it coordinates, will be holding in the course of the month of June 2014 on the theme of tax policy and human rights. The events take place in Geneva and in New York City on the occasion of the release of the latest report by the UN Special Rapporteur on Human Rights and Extreme Poverty, which has tax policy and human rights as its main focus. RBW Alert: Who's Getting Wealthy in sub-Saharan Africa?

Who is really benefiting from wealth creation in sub-Saharan Africa? Alvin Mosioma, Director of Tax Justice Network-Africa, argues in his newest blog post on that while economies in the region are growing, the benefits from growth are disproportionately felt by the rich due to tax dodging and the inability of local authorities to combat such measures. As a result, inequality is growing, with minimal advances by the poor. Read more of his analysis of the implications of this problem and possible solutions:​​
