White House Claims Credit for Protecting Programs for the Poor

In a press release dated July 31, the White House claims the President "rejected proposals that would have place the sole burden of deficit reduction on low-income or middle-class families," standing firm against Republican proposals.  Our thanks go to the interfaith religious leaders who spoke out strongly - even to the point of civil disobedience - to protect the most vulnerable.  We need to do all we can to bring national and global concern for the most vulnerable back to the center of our concerns.
