In a letter addressed to the World Bank President, Mr Jim Kim, several organizations expressed concern at the composition of the panel that will undertake the first review in 10 years of the World Bank Doing Business Project.
The World Bank recently announced the composition of the Panel that will review its Doing Business Project.
In a letter addressed to the World Bank President, Mr Jim Kim, several organizations expressed concern at the composition of the panel.
The organizations, which included support from the broad membership of the International Working Group on Trade-Finance Linkages, stated their concern that the review risks side-lining critical voices of affected groups – particularly labour organizations, representatives of poor small business owners and other civil society groups who are not represented on the panel and to date have not been consulted during the review process. “Given the short time-lines of the review,” they said, “this issue needs to be addressed urgently.”
