On December 8-9, 2016, CoC team member Aldo Caliari attended a meeting in Berlin (Germany) on international finance and the Group of 20. The meeting was part of civil society preparations in the lead up to the 2017 G20 Summit, to be chaired by Germany.

It continues to be the case that demands for alternatives and/or more stringent reform and regulation so that the financial sector serves the needs of societies, people and a real sustainable economy are not sufficiently being heard or even expressed. This meeting sought to increase public scrutiny on malfunctioning international decision‐making on global financial policies and raise civil society awareness on the need to demand financial system reforms consistent with the economic problems that confront society. Participants met with officials from the German government preparing the 2017 G20 Summit and drafted a letter to be delivered to the G20 Sherpas.
