Letter backs up impact of speculation on commodity prices (June 2011)

Civil society organizations from all regions of the world submitted a joint letter to the Japanese government attaching a bulky bibliography of academic and non-governmental organization studies on the impact of speculation on commodity prices.

The letter was submitted to that government in its capacity of Group of 20 coordinator of the commodity price volatility study group.  “We believe they provide substantial and compelling evidence that commodity price volatility over the last five years cannot be explained by fundamental factors alone,” the signatories stated referring to the studies.
