IMF leaves financial sector off the hook, CIDSE says (April 2010)

Rethinking Bretton Woods | Wed, Apr 21, 2010

In a press release, CIDSE criticizes the unbalanced analysis of a draft report by the IMF reviewing mechanisms to make the financial sector contribute to recovering the costs of the crisis.  The draft report will be presented to the G20’s Finance Ministers when they meet in Washington this Friday. CIDSE, an international alliance of Catholic development agencies, says that there is sufficient evidence and independent analysis available that should convince Ministers that the FTT will contribute to financial stability while at the same time generating approximately the equivalent of 2 percent of global gross domestic product.
