Human Rights Response to Financial Crisis Urge NGOs (May 2009)

The Economic, Social and Cultural Rights Network --of which Center of Concern is a member-- has elaborated this Statement through the much appreciated input and review of a broad array of organizations and individuals involved in the efforts of the Network.


The statement calls for a response to the financial crisis and economic recession that places human rights norms at the center, in which people and the environment, not banks or business, are at the foundation of economic policy-making. This Statement has been elaborated to contribute to the proceedings at the UN Summit conference on the Economic and Financial Crisis, from June 24-26, as well as the People's Hearings on the Crisis that will precede it.
