U.S. Elections: A Challenge to Democratic Participation

It is impossible to promote social justice in our world without great emphasis on three indispensable ingredients: participation, accountability and transparency. They constitute the bedrock of true democracy, the prerequisites for the free expression of ideas and the empowerment of people and communities.  When we reflect on recent elections in the United States, we are forced to reconsider the authenticity of the process by which we choose our government.
