“The urgent challenge to protect our common home includes a concern to bring the whole human family together to seek a sustainable and integral development, for we know that things can change. The Creator does not abandon us; ...Humanity still has the ability to work together in building our common home.” –Pope Francis, Laudato Si', 13
On September 25-27, 2015, Heads of State of all the world gathered in New York for a historic Summit that approved the “Transforming Our World: The 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.” The Agenda includes the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) agreed upon through arduous deliberations and consultations over the last 3 years. The SDGs are expected to guide development efforts of the international community for the next 15 years.
As part of his visit to the United States, Pope Francis delivered a historic and poignant address to the Summit on its first day. Center of Concern is proud to join Pope Francis’s appeal, which resonates closely with the Center's goal since 1971 of enabling all people to realize the truth that humanity is united in a common destiny, and to assist the world's people to exercise their common responsibility to shape that destiny.
